07 May How To Stop Procrastination and Get Sh*t Done
Lets admit it, getting sh*t done can be hard sometimes.
I believe this is one of the biggest problems internet marketers have. Taking that first step that will take you in the path you want to go.
Has it ever happened to you that you have a huge goal or business idea, you created the step by set plan to reach the outcome, but when it comes to getting started for the first time you freeze?
It happened to me…
Whether it’s create a campaign, shooting a video, opening a store, or making that first call, you can never get stared until you get started. You know what you gotta do to get there, so why aren’t you doing it?
In my case it was fear. Fear of not knowing what would happen next.
Uncertainty used to kill me. I asked myself, What if people don’t like the idea? What if I invest in this and don’t make any money back? What if I don’t see a positive response?
What if, what if, what if…
As soon as I got rid of these two words I completely changed my game.
So let me tell you how you can stop procrastination once and for all by applying these 3 simple steps.
Just take action!
I know you expected more of this one but man… If you want to become a Youtube channel celebrity? Then shoot videos!
You want to become good at traffic? Then launch campaigns!
The first and most important step is to just do it. Like Nike’s slogan. Just take action by going in the direction you want to go.
Most people want to see success overnight. But success it’s not a fast process and you gotta start somewhere.
To become good at videos you have to shoot that first video.
To get a killer physique you have to go to the gym that first time.
To make money from traffic you have to submit that first ad.
Okay, so you just took that first step. You took massive action and got started, but unfortunately success is about rinsing and repeating.
To see any sort of traction in your business you need to be willing to take action over and over again on a consistent basis.
Now everything I do is based on creating habits. Weather it’s related to sports or business, I always have something scheduled to do at the same time. For instance, on Tuesdays and Fridays I mail my e-commerce list, on Mondays I’ll upload my value blog post and share it with my followers etc..
Every time I fail to take action on the activity I have scheduled I feel terrible.
It’s all about taking that first step and creating habits.
Once you go over the fear of taking action on a particular activity, you will find yourself doing it naturally in the future.
Create An Accountability Team
One of the best things I’ve done is to create teams of likeminded people for specific topics. The idea of the groups is to keep each other accountable and motivated throughout the journey.
I have an accountability team for my e-commerce business, for my gym training and for Karate. Every time I fail to take action on my habits, my team members make sure I keep going on the right path.
For instance, when training karate and I’m super tired, my coach won’t tell me “oh I feel sorry for you, rest for a few minutes…” He’ll tell me just the opposite! “Hey what’s going on! Don’t stop until you finish the task!” Not finishing on time will get me another 100 push ups as punishment.
See the difference?
What I do is hire mentors or coaches when I want to achieve something big. If you can’t afford a mentor then create small groups or join a group(like mine) to keep you accountable.
You’ll face many obstacles and problems along the way, so a good way to keep the momentum on your business is by having someone that helps you figure out your own limits.
The secret to stop procrastination is simply to get started, create habits and improve along the way.
It won’t be perfect in the beginning, but as long as you get started and commit to the work and the hustle, you are positioning yourself to succeed.
